PARAGON KM36: Built for Big Blades, Bigger Ideas, and Maximum Control

The PARAGON KM36 is a professional-grade heat treating furnace with a 36” long chamber—giving you the power to process longer knives, swords, and high-volume blade batches with the same precision and confidence that define the KM-Series. When your work demands space, consistency, and reliability, the KM36 delivers.

Why have a kiln at home?

Having your own kiln puts you in charge of your schedule, your quality, and your reputation. No more coordinating with commercial heat treaters or postponing orders. With the KM36, you can fire your longest blades in-house, temper while you grind, and deliver finished work faster. Whether you're pushing toward a production goal or responding to a last-minute request, having your own furnace means you’re always ready.

Why a PARAGON KM-Series kiln?

For nearly 40 years, the KM-Series has been the trusted name in knifemaking kilns. The KM36 brings that legacy to a new level, offering extended chamber depth for large-scale work without compromising temperature stability or control. The SENTINEL SmartTouch controller gives you pinpoint command over every thermal cycle—from ramp rates to multi-stage hold times—ensuring perfect results with every heat.

The kiln is built for durability and daily use. It features a silent solid-state relay, backed by a mechanical safety relay and door safety switch for added protection. Its recessed elements and 3" thick firebrick insulation promote even heating and long-term performance, while the heavy-duty steel case stands up to the demands of real-world workshops.

Durable, Smart Construction

  • 3" thick firebrick insulation holds heat efficiently and evenly.

  • Elements recessed in machined grooves for protection and long life.

  • Rigid steel case with built-in stand lifts the chamber off your bench.

  • Thermocouple with special-limit wire ensures fast, accurate readings.

  • Solid-state relay offers silent, reliable operation—mounted on a heat sink for cooling, and backed by a secondary safety relay.

  • Door safety switch shuts off the elements when opened for added protection.

  • Choose your access: Drop-down door or side-swing, both at no extra charge.

Who is this skiln for?

The KM36 is designed for serious bladesmiths and small-scale manufacturers who regularly work with long blades, short swords, or batches of fixed blades and tools. If your process includes high-performance steels, long soak times, and tight tolerances, the KM36 gives you the space and accuracy you need to do your best work—without sending it out.

Optional Add-Ons

  • Knife Makers Heat Treating Kit
Includes hot gloves, fork, knifeholders, and supports—ideal for organizing long or multiple blades within the chamber.

  • Gas Injection Flow Meter (Optional Solenoid Kit Available)
Prevent oxidation and minimize scale with an inert gas atmosphere. The optional solenoid kit allows for automatic gas regulation by segment.
