Damascus Steel Knives

Is Damascus Steel good for Knives?

Damascus steel has an added advantage for kitchen knives, due to the combination of metals (steel & iron) creating micro-serrations on the edge of the blade, which keep the blade sharp. Damascus steel stays sharper for a longer period of time, which is why it is advantageous as a kitchen knife, for slicing.

Does Damascus steel rust?

Carbon steel damascus will rust when it is not care for in the proper manner. The blade must remain clean and dry in order to prevent rust or any discoloration.

When you look at damascus knives side by side, the first thing you’ll notice is that no two are exactly alike. Damascus steel knives are known and sought out for their banded designs. The striations and waves found in Damascus steel are not the result of etching a blade after it is forged. Instead, Damascus knife blades get their signature stripes during the steelmaking process, meaning that these eye-catching designs are unique and intrinsic to each blade. Although there is some debate in the metallurgy community over the origins and history of Damascus blades, their iconic beauty is one thing everyone can agree on.

At Jantz Supply, we are proud to offer Damascus knives and blades for all kinds of knife projects. Whether you are making a knife for display or for practical usage, our blades produce top-quality knives every time
